HNS TTX3: prepeations for the exercise in Ghana ongoing
The preperations for the third HNS TTX are ongoing. The exercise will be conducted in December in Accra, tha capital of Ghana.
Ghana is exposed to risks from multiple weather related hazards. The country is most exposed to risks from floods and droughts, particularly in the Northern Savannah belt. There are also risks related to coastal hazards, including storm surges and coastal erosion as well as landslides, earthquakes, pest infestations, and wildfires. The exercise scenario will be heavy rains causing severe flooding in parts of Greater Accra Region. Rains caused flooding in low areas of the Accra metropolis. The rains flooded areas in following regions:
- Central Region
- Greater Accra Region
- Eastern Region
- Volta Region
