ModEx Austria: Review
ModEx Austria, Erzberg: after the exercise is before the exercise. The ModEx series has a new quality in module exercises of DG ECHO. I had the opportunity to play a small part at this venue at the high class new training centre of Red Cross Styria. Two MUSAR teams (from Greece and Lithuania) a TAST (Apell, Romania), EMERPAS of France with very sophisticated UAV (unmanned areal vehicle) and the CSAR (Cave Rescue Search and Rescue from Slovenia) were exercising four days.
For the CSAR it was part of their certification, a rescue operation at the Frauenmauerhöhle was professional and successfully executed. The cave system is well explored (15 Kilometers are explored). With an altitude difference of almost 600 meters, the “Frauenmauerhöhle” is one of the deepest caves in Austria.
