Participation at the Post-Conflict Threats Awareness Workshop in Valkenburg

From 6, – 7. May, I participated at the Post-Conflict Threats Awareness Workshop of the EU Civil Protection & Humanitarian Aid funded FSX project CROSSFLOOD.

The workshop was held as preparation for the CROSSFLOOD full-scale exercise “Cross Border Flood Response Exercise in a Post Conflict Environment” and covered The Workshop was held in Valkenburg, The Netherlands and covered:

  • Increase awareness of the chellenges of CBRN and explosive hazards in a
  • post-conflict environment
  • Exchange knowledge with experts from a multitude on national and
  • mulitnational organizations
  • Identify challenges and solutions in international CBRN and EOD civil
  • protection missions
  • Collecting final inputs for the training curriculum
  • I am happy to meet our friends and partners there.

Two days with brilliant presentations were held:

After the fighting stops: CBRNE threats in post-conflict environments presented by Maksym lchenko, State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

Then: Lessons learned from past CBRN and EOD operations done by Julien Perroudon, Head of Demining Unit, Home Office, General Directorate for Civil Protection, France,

And finally, Andrii Havrys, Deputy Head of Civil Protection Department, Lviv State University of Life Safety, Ukraine presented the sate of the art in fighting mines and UXO (unexploded ordnance) in Ukraine.

After the workshop, a practical Scenario Training and Latest Technologies in Countering CBRN and EOD Threats was offered.
